Kathryn Grovum brings extensive experience in curriculum leadership and student engagement to her role as Head of School. Having previously served as both French Teacher and Director of Curriculum, she is well known to students and families for her thoughtful leadership and commitment to academic excellence.
Kathryn is dedicated to fostering a supportive, well‑organized learning environment and to maintaining strong communication with families. She plays a central role in guiding The New Glenn Arbour Academy through its continued growth and development.
Jillian Burghart returns to The New GAA as Assistant Head of School and Grade 1 teacher, bringing valuable experience in literacy instruction and curriculum design. She previously led the implementation of the school’s Science of Reading program and continues to support excellence in early education.
In addition to her classroom role, Jillian oversees curriculum development and instructional quality across the school.
Emily Albrecht leads the Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten program, creating a warm, structured classroom environment that supports early academic development through play‑based and inquiry‑driven learning.
She is committed to building strong foundations in literacy, social development, and classroom routines, helping young learners begin their school journey with confidence and enthusiasm.
Jesica Bennett is an Ontario Certified Teacher and graduate of the University of Guelph and Trent University. Now in her third year at The New GAA, she is known for her dynamic classroom approach and focus on student engagement.
As a certified yoga instructor and meditation guide, Jesica also incorporates mindfulness and movement into her teaching to support student focus and well‑being.
Ritu Kumar brings nearly twenty years of experience in private education, curriculum development, and academic leadership in Canada and internationally. She holds a Professional Master of Education in Assessment and Evaluation.
Ritu is recognized for her structured, supportive teaching style and her commitment to helping students develop strong academic habits and confidence as learners.
Sheila Holmes holds an Honours Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Elementary Education. She began her career supporting students in special education and English‑language learning environments, shaping her inclusive, student‑centred approach.
She emphasizes differentiated instruction, critical thinking, and strong teacher‑student relationships to prepare senior students for the academic expectations of secondary school.
Jocelyn McIntosh has over 15 years of experience as a private music educator and has previously taught at GAA. She holds Royal Conservatory piano certification and studied music performance at Mohawk College and McMaster University.
Her instruction focuses on musical literacy, creativity, and ensemble performance, helping students develop confidence and technical skill through structured, engaging lessons.
